Visited this hotel many times before but think the new couple who have taken it over have kept the tradition of the place alive yet improved it so much it’s lovely. The hosts are friendly & made us welcome. They now serve the most delicious home made food too(Check times)Although we weren’t staying there this time they showed us the newly restored rooms. Please pay them a visit if possible, they deserve the business.

Har nettopp tilbragt to flotte overnattinger her mens vi har gått Sabotørstien og gått opp til Gaustatoppen. Vertskapet er topp og maten er til å dø for (i følge 14 åringen). Husmannskost av ypperste klasse! Anbefales! Rommet var nytt og fint. Dusj på gangen levde opp til beskrivelsen! Flott bibliotek, spisestue o.l. var et stort pluss. Det er som å bo på et komfortabelt hotell med historien i stua!! Vi kommer igjen, mvh Petter og Morten

Ich kenne die Rjukan Fjellstue schon von früher, als Ausgangspunkt, wenn ich Wintertouren in der Hardangervidda machte. Diesmal habe ich im Sommer vorbeigeschaut. Die Hütte ist zwischenzeitlich unter den neuen Besitzern renoviert, wobei der Charme einer Berghütte erhalten blieb. Auch die Bibliothek und das kleine Museum zum norwegischen Widerstand im 2. Weltkrieg ist noch da. Der Empfang war sehr herzlich und das Abendessen und das Frühstück war hervorragend.

The man working there was not very friendly when I came in asking to buy a beer before my trekk into Hardangervidda.
They said it was dinner serving and it was not possible for me to buy a beer (which is weird since he was standing in front of a fridge which i think was full of beer). I said ok and wished them a nice day.
I then went outside and put my backpack on a wooden bench next to a dining table (outdoors, not on top of the table) just to switch my headband for my hat when he came rushing out explaining the tables were for guests only...there was one couple there eating with maybe 7-8 available tables. I told him I was just putting my hat on where he replied that I should have done it out in the parking lot.
I would advice to make your business in town instead, this probably the rudest person I have met from 18 years of trekking in Norway.

Accidentally missed the parking for the hike and drove up to the house with my caravan. while trying to turn arround, a woman came to us and said "you have a problem now", "you cant sleep here". She could also had opened the gate and let us turn on their parking. This was while we were there for maybe 3 minutes.
