I did the 4,5 hours cruise to experience Tromsø from the seaside.
Amazing old wooden boat built in 1917, a piece of art by itself.
We got a very friendly crew with plenty of interesting stories from Truls (nice to have a guide that grew up in Tromsø!).
A delicious fishcake and some hot drinks are offered, and you can buy cold drinks and other snacks if needed.
We saw some breathtaking landscapes, some harbour seals, a white tailed eagle and a lot of sea birds.
I will definitely come back!

We took a two and a half hour cruise of the fjords on Hermes II and it was fantastic. The boat is beautiful and the crew are so knowledgeable. My two young nephews spent ages up with the captain learning how to sail the boat and taking turns on the wheel; they loved it! We saw seals and an eagle as well as the stunning scenery. The fresh, local fishcakes were a delicious warming treat as well. Highly recommend

Review of Hermes II: An Unforgettable Fishing Adventure

This was by far one of the best fishing trips I have ever experienced.

Truls and his exceptional team made every guest feel incredibly special. The group was intimate, with only around 12 people, which allowed for personalized attention. My family felt like the focus of the day, and the care they showed was unmatched.

The Hermes II itself is a fascinating vessel with a rich history. Built in 1917, it has undergone numerous renovations over the years while preserving its historic charm. Some crew members even shared stories of their families’ involvement in its World War II voyages, adding a deeply personal and unique touch to the experience.

The trip began with a safety briefing before we ventured into the fjords. Along the way, we made several stops where the crew patiently taught us how to use the fishing equipment. Once we started fishing, the action didn’t stop! My 12-year-old son caught two fish at once, and my 9-year-old handled everything with ease. The crew provided complimentary coffee, tea, and a traditional Norwegian blackcurrant drink for the kids, which was a thoughtful touch.

The crew also helped clean and fillet the fish we caught to take home, although it’s not guaranteed you can take them home only if there is enough fish for everyone (bonus fish). However, everyone is treated to a delicious serving of fresh fish with butter at the end of the trip, which was one of the best meals I’ve had.

The boat was well-prepared for families with children. There was warm gear for everyone, cozy spaces to warm up, and even beds below deck where my 5-year-old took a short nap. We also had the thrill of spotting dolphins and feeding majestic sea eagles—an unforgettable highlight.

This trip was truly amazing from start to finish. The stunning views, incredible hospitality, and thrilling fishing made it worth every penny. If you’re even considering it, don’t hesitate! Highly, highly recommend, especially for families.

We just went on the fjord fishing cruise and it has made our day in Tromso! The captain and crew members were wonderful and knowledgeable. We went to different spots during the trip to fish and our group caught a lot of fish. Nice hot tea/coffee, fish cakes, and dishes caught were nicely served. Overall a must do experience if when visit Tromso!

A very unique experience that couldn’t have been any better. What is there not to enjoy? From this traditional and full of history boat (Hermes 2 is the oldest active fishing boat in Norway), to the very professional, yet fun and helpful crew, everything was great. Glorious weather, successful fishing activity. Shout out to Truls, he has been a very good guide! Totally recommended

Incredible experience! We took the 4.5 hrs fishing tour (9 am to 1.30 pm) and had a magnificent day on the water around Tromsø. We went to various spots and did catch a lot of fish and could take them all home with us. Had people with us who were not fishing, and they enjoyed it very much too. Staff is super amazing, taking their time with every individual guest.
